Remember a few weeks ago when Periphery’s Mark Holcomb teased about a forthcoming Periphery project during our interview? Well here it is! Clear! Not quite an EP, not quite an album, every band member has written their own track, showcasing their individual writing styles and filtering it through the massive Periphery machine. Here’s what the band had to say about it (and a teaser video at the end):
“Clear is an experiment to explore all of the different writing styles in the band. It’s rare when you have a band where every member is capable of writing and producing music. With each member controlling their own track, this recording enabled us to go down any path we chose in terms of style and sound.
“Every track also contains a melodic theme established in Clear’s intro track “Overture” this common thread links all of the songs together, even though they all sound wildly different. Clear shouldn’t be confused with our new 3rd full-length album that we’re currently working on, nor should it be considered an EP as it rides somewhere in-between clocking in at 30 minutes. Enjoy!”

“Santo & Johnny” collected a Gold Record in 1959 for their prolific original instrumental tune, “Sleep Walk”. This song has been covered by more than two hundred different artists and has been heard in over 20 movies TV programs and series, as well as TV commercials from 1959 to 2013.
Even more remarkable is the fact that this composition has recently been credited with over four million certified airplays since its release in 1959! Capping this award, “Sleep Walk” was recognized again in 1999 with a Grammy Award for the Best Pop Instrumental recorded by “The Brian Setzer Orchestra”.
In total, Johnny Farina and “Santo & Johnny” have recorded and released 35 albums and over 50 singles worldwide during their careers which span over 50 years. Other Santo & Johnny hits include All Night Dinner, Tear Drop, Caravan and Pipeline. Johnny Farina has kept the magical steel guitar sound alive performing as a solo artist all over the world since the early 70′s.
The members of Les Paul’s Trio have always been considered cream of the crop among the greater New York area music scene. When band leader, Lou Pallo, felt like experimenting he decided to invite his friend legendary steel guitarist, Johnny Farina, to sit-in with the trio on a recent Les Paul Monday evening at the iconic Iridium Jazz Club. The collaboration turned out to be better than Lou had ever expected; so rather than this being a one-off event, Lou & Johnny decided to bring this dynamic new combo on the road with their very first stop being Lucille’s at B.B. King’s on Dec 14 at 8pm.

I’ve seen people play guitars with their feet, I’ve seen people lap tapping guitars, but I think this is the first time I’ve seen someone play the bass with his feet while playing an electric guitar and an acoustic guitar at the same time!
The musician above is Pierre Pihl Grönlund, a young guitarist from Cologne, Germany who also plays as a the duo Max und Pierre.
Pretty impressive huh?

A number of B.C. Rich guitars use a classic Bolt-on construction. On these instruments a neck (typically maple) is bolted on with 4 screws to the body. This construction offers some added flexibility in the instruments adjustment and provides the option to change the neck in the future.
B.C. Rich BDSM Pickups
B.C. Rich designed their BDSM humbucking pickups to provide a solid sound and to be durable while delivering high output. BDSM stands for Broad Dynamic Sonically Matched. Which simply means that the pickup is designed to reproduce a wide range of frequencies accurately (broad dynamic). Then they are tested and matched in pairs (Neck and Bridge) by their inherent individual and signature tonal and output characteristics to give a solidly balanced tone (sonically matched).
Most of B.C. Rich body styles employ a beveled edge around the shape. In many ways bevels on a top are similar to facets on a cut stone. They catch the light and reflect at different angles giving the instrument more of a three dimensional look. Some of the B.C. Rich top bevels are extreme and wide while others are subtle and narrow. Occasionally the shape of the instrument is accented by painting the bevels a contrasting color.
